Description
The Cisco GLC-BX-U is a Bi-Directional (BiDi) Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver module designed for use in Gigabit Ethernet applications. It supports data transmission up to 10 kilometers over single-mode fiber (SMF) using two different wavelengths. It transmits data at 1310nm and receives data at 1490nm. This BiDi functionality requires using the GLC-BX-U transceiver with another compatible transceiver or network device that uses the opposite wavelengths (1490nm transmit and 1310nm receive) for proper communication.
The GLC-BX-U is hot-swappable, allowing for easy installation and removal without powering down the network device. This feature is beneficial for maintenance and upgrades.
